What this little Savonian girl dreamt of on a summer’s day, pulling legs from flies and body parts from ants, is a mystery. Did she, already in those early days, wonder at the elaborateness of those little creations of nature? Each one of them is slightly different, yet an important individual in its environment.
When she returned into the world of these creatures as an experienced goldsmith, their composition became a new source of inspiration for her. An inspiration and a challenge: could these tiny details be reproduced in silver and gold and turned into jewelry? With typical Finnish persistence, she bounced back from setbacks. After many, many months, a new collection was complete – Arthropoda.
